Connect, Educate, Advocate, Collaborate
Community Integration presented by America’s Warrior Partnership
in collaboration with Wounded Warrior Project®
AWP’s mission is to partner with Warrior-centric communities by providing a proven model, mentorship, and resources in order to advance comprehensive and holistic Warrior care that will promote the overall well being of Warriors and their communities.
America’s Warrior Partnership Community Integration (AWP) developed a model program for local communities that want to identify and assist military and Warriors. This program was developed in Augusta, Georgia and is made possible with funding from Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
The Community Integration program seeks to identify and serve primarily post-9/11 Warriors and to ease the transition of those who are currently exiting the military. However, all who have served are eligible for assistance through sponsored local community programs.
Ideal communities will have the following: a significant Warrior population, community resources such as other nonprofits willing to collaborate, a military installation or other military related facilities and Veteran Administration programs. A community-level group dedicated to serving military and veterans is ideal but start-up groups may also be considered.
The Plan
AWP believes it is essential to do four things: Connect, Educate, Advocate and Collaborate. Local communities should have a strong local group or be willing to form one. Each group should have a dedicated leader, preferably with military experience.
Funding a young nonprofit is often difficult and that is where AWP can provide both assistance and mentoring. If approved, a community may receive up to two-thirds of its annual budget for up to three years from AWP. This, of course comes with reporting requirements.
